Our Story: Music, community and joy in the heart of St. John's
Making Music Academy has been a home away from home for hundreds of St. John's families since we opened our doors at 370 Torbay Road. We are an award-winning music school built on one simple belief: that music belongs to everyone, from the very youngest babies to school-age kids discovering their instrument for the first time.
Our studio is warm, welcoming and designed to feel like a community from the moment you walk in. Families come from across the region (Torbay, Flatrock, Paradise, CBS and beyond) and stay because the connections they make here, between children, parents and teachers, are just as meaningful as the music itself.

Early Childhood Music Education and Associated Improvements in Music and Language Abilities, published in Music Perception (2018). Led by Dr. Sean Hutchins, Director of Research at The Royal Conservatory of Music. The study found significant improvements in vocabulary, letter and number naming, and singing ability among children participating in early music education, along with a strong relationship between music and language development.
