What is your fee structure?
We operate on a convenient monthly, equal-payment subscription. You pay the same amount every month, spread out over 10 monthly payments, which will cover a minimum of 35 classes. If you start late or leave early, your subscription will be adjusted accordingly.
If I sign up, am I committed to the whole year, can I pay weekly, or is it semester-based?
No, you are not locked in. You can start or finish at any time. Cancellations after your 3-month initial commitment require a 30-day written notice to info@makingmusicacademy.com. Verbal notice given to the teacher will not be acted upon and is not considered sufficient unless confirmed in writing to MMA management by the Member.
As it is a monthly subscription, it will be automatically charged to your card on file at the beginning of each month.
Initial Term Commitment: To ensure a positive and meaningful start, all new enrolments are secured with a minimum initial commitment of three months. This allows each student time to settle into the class routine, build confidence with foundational skills, form social connections in group settings, and begin nurturing their love of music in a welcoming and supportive environment. This encourages students to build confidence, get to know their teachers and SHINE .
After this initial period, enrolment continues on a flexible month-to-month basis, and membership may be paused or cancelled at any time with 30 days' written notice.
Do you do makeup classes?
Private Lessons:
We value and support our amazing teachers, so in an effort to give them a consistent schedule we offer ONE make-up lesson for Private lessons per year. If you need to miss a private lesson, please cancel that lesson in your Opus1.io account.
In the event a teacher is unavailable to teach a private lesson, a make-up lesson will always be rescheduled by the teacher.
Group Classes:
No make-up lessons or credits will be provided for a student’s absence from a tots class or group class. If notice of sickness is given in writing at least 12 hours before the start of class, students can email to arrange to attend another class on another day, pending on sufficient space.
There is no guarantee space will be available.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations require a 30-day written notice to info@makingmusicacademy.com. Verbal notice given to the teacher will not be acted upon and is not considered sufficient unless confirmed in writing to MMA management by the Member.
What age can my child start the tots sessions?
Our youngest group, ages 0-1, Teeny Tots Music Therapy starts at 0! We have had infants as young as 10 days join in to Make Music.
Do you teach adults?
Absolutely! Our talented teachers offer private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, drums, percussion, cello (and more!).
Can I bring my partner or the grandparents to the age 0-5 classes?
We love when families share these special moments! Here's how it works:
Ages 0-5 classes:
- Extra grown-ups are always welcome for special occasions like first classes, holidays, and graduations.
- Sometimes, just because: if both parents or another family member/friend would like to attend, let us know ahead of time. We'll do our best to make it work while keeping the class safe and comfortable.
- If your family has specific accessibility needs, please let us know, we'll always support you.
Ages 5+ (group or private lessons):
Parents typically drop off for these classes, but you're welcome to come in!
What is your weather-closure policy?
We follow the school schedule for weather closures. If the schools are closed, we will also close.
Weather is unfortunately out of our control and it is impossible to provide groups of children a makeup session for weather (similar to swimming lessons, dance classes, or gymnastics). Therefore, we will not be able to makeup any classes due to weather or circumstances outside of our control.
When will my child move up to the next age group?
Little Music Makers (baby, toddler, preschool, & family jam music 0-5) question.
Your child can stay in the same age group for the year (September to June). When a child joins a group of other children, they, too, will be having birthdays and getting a year older, so the kids will all be the same age for that year. When you join classes again the following year, you can choose the next age-appropriate class.
There is no space in the class I want. How can I join a waitlist?
Under the Register tab of our website, select the class and time you would like to attend and then select "Join Waitlist". You will get a notification when a spot becomes available and you will have an opportunity to register when that happens.
If you have trouble with this, send us an email at info@makingmusicacademy.com and we'd be happy to help you out.
Do you offer Kindermusik at your music Academy?
No. We do not offer Kinder Music or any franchised / pre-packaged program . Our early childhood music classes, Little Music Makers, follow a handcrafted curriculum created right here; uniquely designed by Ms. Terrilyn (Owner and Teacher) and Ms. Renee (Music Therapist) for the families and students who walk through these doors.
This modern, student-centred approach has been thoughtfully built over numerous years of hands-on teaching, research in child development and music therapy, and real musical experience with babies, toddlers, and young children.
Our program is not pre-packaged or franchised which makes our curriculum unique, relevant, and intentional.
The curriculum is living and responsive—adapting to the children in the room, their interests, and their developmental needs—while remaining tried, tested, and deeply intentional. Every class is shaped around connection, joy, social interactions, and fostering a genuine love of music.
What that means for your child:
-
learning through play, movement, and meaningful music-making
-
an inclusive space where individuality is celebrated
-
skills that grow naturally and sequentially
-
a warm, welcoming community that values simplicity and ease for families
